My Bday present to myself 2008

well since my bday is ard the corner and there is a need for me in my own planning, to acquire a set of DSLR gear for the upcoming weddings, i have researched and decided on purchasing my Canon EOS 400D with EF-S 17-85mm F4-5.6 IS USM Lens and Battery Grip BG-E3 together with Canon Speedlite 430EX carried in a Lowepro Rezo 190 AW from Cathay Photo Pte Ltd, not sure if i can reveal their prices, but i got everything for approx $2.2K on 14 June 2008

its been very different trying to shoot with a DSLR, but i'm learning the ropes and enjoying it, tested the camera out at home and also during lunch after svc in sunday, then used it during the BBQ at my NIE Maths classmates' place. everything is fine with the exception of flash photography, its really hard to master cos it is very much at times not a "what u see is wat u get" situation, ur flash can give u very unexpected results (negatively). my NIE BBQ photos can be found on my facebook, which u can add using my MSN email.

anyway so bearing tat in mind, i went ahead and bought a StoFen omni bounce (refer to www.stofen.com) for my 430EX and went on a learning assignment to an evening sports event by GenACTS club which i used to volunteer in, but not as actively now. i learnt a lot in the 3 hrs i was shooting there and the photos are in the slideshow below. if u got any tips or comments abt the photos, pls do drop them here in this post or on my picasa web album. thanks in advance!
