Journal of an Event Photographer: Post-Event Processing of Event Photos

For Traditional Film Photography:

During Event:
Snap away and ensure that the whole roll of film is used up at the end of the event so as to minimise disruptions to the processing of the photos.

1st Available Day after Event:
Send the roll/s of film to an accessible and convenient developing outlet for developing, preferably to get membership or discount card for the outlet/chain so as to cut cost.

Next Working Day:
Collect photos from outlet mentioned above and slot photos into the albums provided, also QC the photos removing sub-standard ones to maintain reputation as good photographer, also take this time to appreciated the fruits of your work.

Next Available Meet-up with the Event Participants:
Bring photo albums along to pass around among the participants for their appreciation, also include an order list for reprints if you are not comfortable with passing your negatives around.
Repeat until all or at least most participants have had a chance to browse the albums.

After Completion of Previous Step:
Send negatives to the same outlet as mentioned above for processing of reprints.

Next Working Day:
Collect reprints, sort them out according to individual orders and calculate cost of each order.

Next Available Meet-up with the Clients (people who placed orders):
Distribute photos and collect payment.

End of Procedure

PS: The above procedure is only for photographers who have lots of cash to spare as he/she has to cover all payments 1st on behalf of his/her clients. This is also for photographers who wish to achieve a high reputation with his/her clients as this set of procedures takes a lot of sacrifice on the photographer's part, but provides his/her clients with the best satisfaction.

ok i realised i got a bit BHB near the end cos this was the procedure i used to follow before i got my digital camera, and it really cost me loads of money hahaha
