KC the volunteer photographer
i was initially asked if i cld help with video coverage of a x'mas concert by a children's home, which i hesitated as my video camera is faulty and it wld have been a tall order to obtain one in the short run, however it turns out tat they found a videographer just when i was abt to make the commitment.
the funny thing was tat i got a sms reply saying "oh we found ppl to do video alrdy but we still lack a photographer" (paraphrased) then i was like, eh i'm a better photographer than videographer lor, shd have told me abt photographer need, then i will volunteer w/o hesitation LOL
so in tat turn of events, i volunteered as an event photographer for the x'mas concert. it was a 6 hour assignment cos i went down to cover the preparation for the concert too and i'm amazed at how much effort was needed to plan and execute the concert with some uncooperative and tanturm throwing children.
the concert itself was very enjoyable as the kids performed, there was a pre-sch girl who saw her parents (i assumed) and walked towards them instead of returning back stage after her performance, its really the innocence and child-likeness in these children tat make them so adorable. i think no one present wld fault the little girl but instead are amused and warmed in their hearts to see the simple expression of their desire for love and warmth, which is wat many adults fail to do.
the pastor who preached also shared the gospel message in a interesting way using a booklet of multi colours for difference representations, i think it is really simple enough for the parents and also the children present. may God touch their hearts thru the influence of the ppl in the home. oh they also had 2 of the children to share a testimony of their experiences in the home and also an ex-resident to come back and share, it is really heart warming to hear of their gratitude for God and also the ppl in the home.
such experiences make volunteering such an attractive thing, also as a photographer i'm learning to better capture emotions and memories for the ppl ard me and myself, i'm looking forward to the days ahead where ppl will look at the photos i took and smile from the depths of their hearts.
