My New Home Saga summary
some of u may have alrdy heard from me personally that God has blessed me greatly in the search of a new flat, it really felt like entering the promised land for me, it has to do with my family history. allow me to explain LOL
my dad had used to own a bicycle shop hse along upp thomson, directly across from the estate of this new flat, but the actual ownership was under my grandfather's name as my dad was too young to own property at tat time (he was 20 odd i guess), as my dad went on to take up his contractor job, the shop hse was left to my grandfather. it was in ard 1993 tat the shophse was acquired by the government to be demolished, in compensation, all the owners were given the choice to buy a flat at this estate i'm moving into. by all right, the flat shd have been my dad's but my uncle took over it instead, i was too young then to make an issue out of it, but now after 15 years, i'm moving into the estate with the providence from God
this whole journey had been a test of trust and reliance on God. it started off on a very bad note where i was happily enjoying my hols but was strucked by the sudden letter from HDB giving me a 1.5 month notice of the end of the tenancy and tat renewal of tenancy is for household with less than $1500 monthly income, i was quite the desparate during tat week of 15th dec, but God actually had alrdy provided a way out. i had alrdy been contemplating the idea of getting a 3 room flat even before this, and it just made me need to act on it. God also had provided me with a rdy agent, my big bro's sec sch buddy.
anyway the 1st miracle came when i applied for the HDB Loan eligibility, i had earlier called to make an enquiry on my family situation as my dad had owned a 4 room flat before he went bankrupt and ended up in a 1 room flat, thus by HDB regulations we were only eligible to get a loan if we buy a 5 room flat (as stated by the customer service personnel) but it turned out otherwise, the application which was supposed to take 1-2 weeks, took only 3 working days also giving me a relatively high loan quantum. this was after the svc on 21st dec where we were asked to pray for each other during altar call and i shared to a sister in my unit, jennifer, abt this issue and asked to be prayed for the loan specifically.
after tat was the 1.5 weeks flat search which seemed like eternity to me LOL, view a 3 room flat which was well within budget but in a very bad condition, after which i tried to find many 3 room flats which are of better condition to no avail, all those in gd condition were either out of budget or have been sold off. i was really quite discouraged, however some where during tat week, some1 popped the idea of getting a 4 room flat into my head, i had previously ruled it out as it was out of budget in my own opinion. this made me very wearied during the xmas svc, but on the 28th dec svc, during lunch, i had initially resisted talking abt this issue as i was still very discouraged, but some how i opened up to guofeng and kevin after some prompting and we prayed for a flat of gd condition and location which is within my budget.
on the following monday, i did a rough calculation and saw tat a 4 room flat was within budget if i had included my mum's savings which initially i had left out as i was prideful and wanted to buy the flat using only my own savings. i had also found a 4 room flat on offer which sounded very nice, so i suggested to my agent to look up 4 room flats available in the area too, he managed to find the flat tat i found on the listings and also another flat which was slightly more expensive and we arranged to view the flats. it turned out tat the one tat i had found online was not really in a gd condition, there were a lot of fixtures to be done if i were to buy it, whereas the one my agent found was in tip top condition and asking for minimal cash. i was apprehensive abt getting the expensive flat, but came back and did my sums nonetheless only to realised tat the flat was within budget and its price is very low compared to a similar flat which fetched $389K in dec 08
i was hesitant but still asked my agent if he was able to bargain down the price so tat my budget will be less tight, i was hoping for a 2K reduction, but my agent managed to get a 3K reduction instead, if it wasnt God then the flat must have been problematic, but i trust tat its God working in His way to provide for me. as of now i'm still lacking ard 3K for the payment which is due in april even after considering my pay for the next few months, however my dear friends have agreed to give me a personal loan in the event tat i really needed it. I really thank God for Huaqiang, my shepherd, he took the initiative to offer to give me a loan if i have the need, i was really touched, cos he had recently spent a lot on his wedding and honeymoon and he will be buying a flat soon, but he still offered the help. I'm also very thankful for Ellson and Qiyuan, who when asked by me if they can help, they just responded with "how much u need? when u need? Ok can". God has reminded me thru this of these dear brothers tat he has placed in my life and tat i shdnt be dwelling upon my own impatient desires for companionship. I have learnt again to be contented and also to wait upon Him for the one He has planned for me as my life partner.
